NEW MUSIC \\ Brighton future-soul band Yakul reveal ‘Blossoming’

5th June 2019
Yakul have just dropped their catchy new single ‘Blossoming’.

Fresh from supporting Mildlife at XOYO as part of Bradley Zero’s residency, Yakul have dropped another defining single. Inspired by soul, pop and jazz, their forward-looking approach has them winning fans who share a love for Jordan Rakei and Oli Hannaford. The funk touches and vocal somersaulting on ‘Blossoming’ makes this track a fun hip-mover.

Yakul is made up of James Berkeley (keys / vocals), Sam Hughes (drums), Leo Utton (guitar) and Tom Caldwell-Nichols (bass)

Of ‘Blossoming’, Yakul have shared that it was a hard track to finish – but what about to start? Bassist Tom says; “‘Blossoming’ started out as a demo that James had written – but we couldn’t really get our heads around it and make anything musical out of it as a band. There was so much about it that we liked that we didn’t want to give up on it. We had to sit in a room and bash our heads together until it fell into, place piece by piece.”

Check out the single below and catch the band at Love Supreme Jazz Festival this year.
