NEWS \\ Sons of Kemet, Poppy Ajudha and Makaya McCraven win at the JazzFM Awards

1st May 2019

Makaya McCraven, Sons of Kemet and Poppy Ajudha amongst others were winners at last night’s JazzFM Awards.

Jazz legends and new wave artists were awarded last night in thirteen categories. Sons of Kemet, who won the public vote for Jazz album of the Year for ‘Your Queen Is A Reptile’, posted a photo of themselves with Gary and Janine of Tomorrow’s Warriors on their Instagram account. It read; “Big love to everyone who voted for us. It was really special to see so many artists nurtured by the Tomorrow’s Warriors family nominated and winning. Gary and Janine have been instrumental in all the gains we’re now seeing. The seeds they planted are beating [sic] fruit.”

Meanwhile, Poppy Adjuha, who won Soul act of the Year, shared a picture on her Instagram with fellow winner Nubya Garcia, who walked away with Best UK Jazz Act.
